Holiday classics concert coming soon

For a pleasant afternoon of holiday music, residents of Manalapan and their families can enjoy a holiday concert.

Later this month, Tim McLoone will be appearing with the Shirleys and the Atlantic Coast Band. Normally, the group plays a mixture of classic rock, rhythm and blues, Broadway, and country, but this concert will concentrate on the old and new traditional holiday favorites.

The entire group has been together since 1999. The band, itself, consists of a guitar, bass, drums, sax, and trumpet players. The Shirleys are a female vocal group comprised of four members—they recently released their first CD, which is a composite of their covers and some original songs.

Tim McLoone, the band’s originator, director, and pianist, is a well-known entertainer and musician, as well as a New Jersey restaurateur. He was also the musical director for NBC’s Rockefeller Center Tree lighting ceremony from 1998-2000, so business card printing must be quite interesting for this Renaissance man. One of his achievements is the Holiday Express, which he created in 1993, and this is a volunteer nonprofit organization of over 100 professional musicians and singers that donate time and talents to bringing music to the less fortunate during the holiday season.

The concert will be held Sunday December 21, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the Library Headquarters, 125 Symmes Drive, Manalapan.
