In conjunction with the Monmouth County Library, Sharese Porter, a family and community health sciences educator, will be facilitating a series of virtual health seminars over the next three months.
Her first on Tuesday, October 27, will be Bringing Vegetables to the Table. Her focus will be on New Jersey’s autumn vegetables and how to prepare them. Viewers can sign up for this seminar now.
On November 10, her topic will be All About Tea. She will discuss health benefits, culture and history of tea and give tea drinking recommendations. Registration will start October 12.
Focus on Fungi will be Porter’s topic on November 24. During this seminar, she will discuss how fungi affect human life, the health benefits of fungi, and how to cook mushrooms, including handing out recipes that use mushrooms as ingredients. October 26 is when registration for this seminar will begin.
Porter’s final health seminar will be on Tuesday, December 8. Her topic this time will be ‘Is Chocolate the New Health Food?’ Viewers will learn about the possibility of chocolate’s health benefits, and the future, present, and past of the sweet treat. Manalapan folks can start registering on November 9.
All the seminars, which provide an opportunity for the exchange of digital Business Cards, will take place from 11:00 am until noon on Zoom. Information on how to access them will be given to participants upon registration.
