Freneau Woods Park has packed winter schedule

Manalapan outdoor enthusiasts can look forward to many experiences at Freneau Woods Park over the next few weeks.

From 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm, December 18, the park will feature Moonlight Meander. A park naturist will take participants through park wetlands, meadows, and woods in full moonlight. Event tickets will be $7.50. The hike will begin at the visitor center.

An Owl Prowl will begin the park’s new year schedule on January 22 from 7:30 pm until 9:00 pm. The experience will start with a short local owl ecology PowerPoint presentation followed by an outside expedition in search of the night raptors. The fee will be $9.

On New Year’s Day, the park will feature Poets in the Woods: A New Year’s Day Celebration. Guests will be treated to words of wisdom from Philip M. Freneau, the park’s namesake and revolutionary war poet. A jaunt through the park will have stops to take in nature through works by famous poets such as T.S. Elliot, Robert Frost, and Mary Oliver. This event will be from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm and registration will be $5 per person.

February the park will have A Nature Hike and Campfire scheduled for February 12 from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm and Pond life in Winter, February 13 from 1:00 to 2:00 pm.
