Couple of running events scheduled for April
Local runners will be turning out for a couple of local running events in late April, both of which are still going ahead at the time of writing.
The first run will be the 5th Annual Lobster Run 5k to Care for the Coast on Saturday, April 18. This will be a fundraiser run/walk to support the American Littoral Society with its efforts to restore and protect the New Jersey coastline.
The course will be a straight out and back across Asbury Park’s Boardwalk. The start and finish line will be at the Langosta Lounge, 1000 Ocean Avenue and Second Avenue. Participants can begin their walk/run between 10:00 am and 10:30 am. A lobster buffet will begin at 10:30 am with entertainment by The Attic.
On Sunday, April 26, Monmouth Battlefield State Park will have Walk MS: Manalapan. Participants can choose either the one or three mile options. Event day registration will open at 8:30 am with the walk/run starting at 10:00 am. Faster runners are asked to begin more toward the 10:30 am time. Leashed dogs are welcome. The course is also accessible for scooters, walkers, wheelchairs, power chairs, and cane users. The event will take place rain or shine.
Although the event will be free, those who raise at least $100 in donations will receive Walk MS T-shirts. Others can order long sleeve and short sleeve shirts online for $10. Each shirt comes with a custom or stock graphic design.
