Old Bridge Airport, a privately owned airport located about five miles south of Old Bridge, will be giving free rides to kids from ages 8 through 17 at its annual Airport Open House coming in mid-June.
Manalapan aviation enthusiasts will get the chance to view radio controlled model airplanes, get a close-up view of small aircraft and airport hangars, and get a good look at airport day-to-day procedures. This will also be a chance for those interested in working in aviation to get information on career opportunities. A food truck and ice cream truck will be on the premises for those wishing to purchase snacks and treats, as well as vendors selling aviation-related merchandise.
Pictures taken of family members sitting in airplane cockpits often go to local Print shops to be made into duplicates for family and friends.
Many attendees may be interested in looking into the Pilots Helping Humanity programs - Angel Flight NE, Patient Airlift Services and Pilots N Paws, All are non-profits where local member pilots donate their time, aircraft, and money to aid the community by providing air transportation to families needing immediate and continuing medical care, and assistance with animal rescue.
Airport Open House at the Old Bridge Airport 3N6, 182 Pension Road, Englishtown, is scheduled for June 11 from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm with a rain date of June 12. Admission will be free.
