Annual St. Patricks Day Parade still on schedule

Manalapan residents of Irish decent, and those wishing to be Irish for a day, will be heading to The Freehold Borough Arts Council’s 10th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade, which is still in the planning stages and is scheduled to take place in mid-March.

All entries will be free. However, the parade organizers ask sponsors to support units with specified monetary donations to help the event continue in the coming years. Suggested donations for non-profit organizations are $25, businesses $50, corporate level $100, high school bands $300 and $600, Pipe and Drum corps $750 and $1,500, and featured sponsors $2,000.

Marching groups are to arrive at McLean Steet beginning at 11:00 am. The parade will assemble at noon and start at 1:00 pm.

Families that dress in traditional Irish attire and participate in St. Patrick’s Day parades usually have pictures taken. These photos often go to nearby Stationery printers to become the March entry for the family’s yearly Calendars.

This year’s route will begin at McLean Steet, go passed the Hall of Records continuing to East Main Street where the reviewing stand will be located, and proceed on to Bennett Street ending at the Elks Lodge, 73 E. Main Street.

The after parties will begin around 2:30 pm at the Elks Club and the Colombian Club. The Hibernians will supply the entertainment.

The Freehold Borough Arts Council’s 10th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade will take place Sunday, March 13.
