Hohokus to help with local community service project

As daffodils have long been associated with the arrival of spring, this November will see bulb-planting parties help to fill a Hohokus area park with their beauty ready for the change of seasons.

Friends of Anderson Park have issued a call to the community to lend a hand with its bulb planting day. The project will run for approximately two hours, and all help will be welcome.

The volunteers will be installing at least 600 May in Montclair daffodil bulbs, with instructions set to be supplied by organizers. Everyone has been asked to bring along a hand trowel or, if they have one, a larger shovel to prepare the beds and plant. In the spring, they will be able to return and enjoy the floral display. A list has been prepared by May in Montclair of the various locations where daffodils and tulips will be popping up in the spring, including Anderson Park. Children may participate, but they will need to have an adult with them.

The assistance of the public may be very important in helping to maintain parks and other recreation spaces. Promotional products to thank them for their work can be prepared by a local printer.

This afternoon planting party organized by Friends of Anderson Park is scheduled to give the site some TLC on Saturday, November 4. The helping hands are asked to arrive by 1:00pm. The park is located at 274 Bellevue Avenue in Montclair.
