What's Happening in Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ…

Hohokus to celebrate landmark with dinner

In a week’s time, the Hohokus Inn and Tavern will be hosting a special dinner in celebration of the 80th anniversary of the repeal of prohibition.

The dinner will consist of four courses prepared by Andrew Rodriguez, Executive Chef, with each course complemented by a beer from 21st Amendment Brewery, one of the top breweries in Northern California. Some education and background on each of the beers, some of which have won awards, will be provided by Rob Lipkin, Wine and Beverage Director of the restaurant. Perhaps local printing companies are busy producing material about the food and drink right now as well.

Among the items in the meal will be a tuna and watermelon tartare accompanied by a Hell or High Watermelon Wheat Beer; scallop and shrimp ravioli with a Bitter American Session Ale; curried lamb croquettes accompanied by a Brew Free! or Die IPA beer and a duck hot dog with Back in Black IPA beer.

The Hohokus Inn and Tavern was restored in 2009 when it came under new ownership. It has a casually elegant atmosphere so as to provide an optimum dining experience. The renovation included a complete redesign of the interior dining rooms, adding a tavern that can host 33 people and a bluestone patio with outdoor fireplace for dining outside during the warmer spring and summer months. The fare is innovative, primarily American, and uses fresh ingredients from local and regional farmers. It can all be sampled on Wednesday, June 19.
