Hohokus therapist claims best-in-state award

ASAH, a non-profit organization that represents 135 private, special education schools, and agencies serving students with disabilities across New Jersey, recently named Brandy Springer as the ‘Related Services Provider of the Year’ for New Jersey.

An occupational therapist at the ECLC of Hohokus, Springer claims an award given each year to a physical therapist, occupational therapist, nurse, social worker, psychologist or counselor who has done outstanding work at one of the member agencies or schools of ASAH.

Principal of the ECLC, Vicki Lindorff, commented that Brandy is someone who embraces challenges and takes them on with complete dedication, enthusiasm, and professionalism.

Springer has been at the school for six years. She said she has found that the school, which serves students from the ages of five to 21 with severe learning and/or language disabilities, gives her the opportunity to collaborate with teachers and provide alternative ideas and treatments, and that this might not be afforded in public schools.

In addition to helping students develop self-care skills and sensory integration and processing, she has also implemented several programs throughout the school that are unique to the its special education setting, including Zumba, yoga, and the Astronaut Program.

Often, winners of awards like this will head straight to print companies to ensure that such info is included on their latest batch of digital business cards.
