What's Happening in Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ…

Hohokus kids to get gardening

Kids often love getting their hands dirty, and a family-centered class will help the next generation of Hohokus gardeners to get growing.

Learning where their food comes from can help youngsters to develop a better appreciation of the world around them, and the Van Vleck House and Gardens’ will help them to do just that. It is running a series of four sessions, and parents and kids can sign up for one or as many as they wish.

The class will explore horticulture using hands-on methods, and the participants will plant, weed, and harvest a crop. They will also be treated to a snack using ingredients grown on site, and while it is intended for children who are at least age four, all ages are welcome, and siblings may attend together. Support for the initiative has been supplied by Haven Savings Bank and The Albert Payson Terhune Foundation.

Kids may really enjoy learning about the world around them, and taking part in an organized activity can help them to do it in a way that is fun and exciting for them. Any handouts needed for a session can be ordered from area stationery printers.

The dates for these sessions are March 29, April 26, May 31, and June 7, all of which are Wednesdays. The series has been organized by The Montclair Foundation.
