Hohokus area plans autumn bird walk series
Hohokus birders know that the fall migration can be a great time to spot a “lifer”, and a workshop is on the agenda for anyone who would like to learn the basics of bird watching.
The Fall Migration Bird Walk visiting Lorrimer Sanctuary will be filled with birders of all experience levels, and it will be a friendly and welcoming occasion. It will teach some of the basics of bird ID, and as the function will take place outside, everyone is reminded to dress for the weather.
The schedule of walks runs throughout the migration season, and as different species will be passing through at different times, those who are interested may want to sign up for more than one. Both New Jersey Audubon Members and non-members alike can take part, and a discounted registration fee is on offer for anyone in the organization. In case the event has to be cancelled, a refund will be given.
Being a part of an organized outing offers a way for new birders to get their feet wet. They may appreciate receiving simple field guides and species checklists, both of which can be prepared by print shops.
These chances to view and give a warm welcome to birds on their way to their southern homes will be offered on Saturdays at Lorrimer Sanctuary from September 10 until October 22. Anyone who would like to sign up can do so now.
