Hohokus area event will take strides to help fight polio

The local chapter of the Rotary Club is fighting to help eradicate polio around the globe, and it is seeking the support of the public.

Hohokus area runners and walkers who want to make a difference are invited to lace up their sneakers and hit the road for the 31st annual Wayne Rotary 5k Run and Fitness Walk this summer. It will raise funds to help a variety of Rotary Club initiatives both locally and across the world, and the fee to register is $25.

The registrants in the fundraiser can choose to run or walk, and those who need a mobility device such as a wheelchair, rollator, or stroller are welcome. The participants can choose to go at a leisurely pace or challenge themselves to complete the course as quickly as possible, and a medal featuring a special graphic design will be given to the top three finishers in both the male and female categories as well as to the overall winners.

Area businesses and individuals that would like to go above and beyond in support of this activity are encouraged to choose a sponsorship level that suits them. These start at $250, and their name will be printed on the T-Shirts and other Promotional Products used for the function.

This annual community run and walk will be taking strides to help end polio on June 6. The staging area will be set up on race day at 580 Ratzer Road in Wayne.
