Utility company recognized for helping eateries save energy

The Industry Partner Award of the Hall of Fame Awards from the New Jersey Restaurant and Hospitality Association (NJRHA) was recently given to the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (NJBPU), located in Trenton, just a short distance from Hamilton.

The award was handed to the BPU to recognize the eligible restaurants across the state to which it gave financial incentives through the Clean Energy Program of the state of New Jersey.

President of the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities, Richard S. Mroz, commented that the BPU is glad of the acknowledgement of the NJRHA of the Clean Energy Program and its incentives, which have helped hundreds of restaurants in the state to become energy efficient.

He added that it also enabled the BPU to team up with the organization to disseminate information about these programs, so that restaurant managers and owners could reduce their energy costs and increase profits. The use of flyer printing can go a long way in getting this information out to such people, as statistics have shown that reducing energy costs by just 20% can translate into a 1% increase in profit.

Marilou Halvorsen, President of the NJRHA, thanked the NJBPU for its collaboration with the industry, as the Clean Energy Program is important to providing financial incentives and protecting the environment.
