Hamilton Township has announced that it will be opening up the John Abbott II House to the public for a handful of days throughout September. This represents an excellent way for locals to learn more about the history of Hamilton, and to view one of the most important landmarks of the community.
John Abbott was a homeowner, and a patriot during the war for independence. His home was used to hide American funds from the British as they advanced towards Trenton in 1776. His home was built in 1730, and Mr. Abbott continued to live here until his death at the age of 87 in 1795.
