NJ native to head up College of New Jersey near Hamilton

It makes sense that a person who raised and attended school in the state of New Jersey should be the person chosen to lead its eponymous college, and the College of New Jersey, near Hamilton, recently announced that it has chosen Kathryn A. Foster to serve as its next president.

Dr. Foster will take over from R. Barbara Gitenstein, who will be moving on from the position this summer. Gitenstein has been the school's president since 1999.

Schools that are announcing a change in administration or other major news can use Stationery printers to help get the word out to students, faculty and others connected to the institution.

Dr. Foster has more than two decades of experience working in education as an administrator. She was at the State University of New York at Buffalo for 18 years, where she had several different posts. In 2012, she moved to the University of Maine to serve as its president.

She earned her bachelor's degree in geography and environmental planning at Johns Hopkins, then a masters in regional planning from UC Berkeley. Her doctorate is in public and international affairs and is from Princeton University.

During the most recent academic year, the college welcomed the largest freshman class in its history, including students from as far away as India, China, and Vietnam.
