The national program radKIDS® will be coming to Hamilton in August at the John K. Rafferty Branch of the YMCA.
radKIDS® is a multisession course where children can learn crucial information about avoiding and responding to harmful situations. The lessons covered in the workshop include preventing abductions from occurring, standing up to bullying, and handling neglect. The program teaches kids the importance of establishing their own personal boundaries and shows them how to physically resist against attackers. Students in the protection class are also taught critical thinking skills.
A non-profit organization, radKIDS® Inc. educates children throughout the United States, Mexico, and Canada. The group consists of more than 5,000 certified instructors. The program aims to improve the self-esteem of kids, increase communication between parents and their children, and reduce the feelings of guilt associated with victimization. People can become a teacher for the organization by enrolling in a 40-hour safety education instruction program.
The child protection workshop will be held from Tuesday, August 9 to Friday, August 12 from 10:00 am to noon. The cost for kids to partake in the class is $30. Those who register will receive a copy of the book Sam’s Secret. The course is only open to children aged 8-12. Non-profits that offer educational programs like this may use printing services to make ads to place in schools or libraries.
