Hamilton class looks at sculpture

The Seward Johnson Atelier in Hamilton will be organizing a workshop in February where guests can create personal sculptures.

Those interested in making a low-relief sculpture using scratch molds can attend two virtual courses. Students will receive a kit containing a blank scratch block and the necessary tools to complete the project during the workshop. Artists from the Seward Johnson Atelier will provide instruction for the class. Once the mold is finished, participants can drop off the piece and then later see the artists pour the aluminum casting live from a video.

The Seward Johnson Atelier is an organization where artists and craftspeople can receive training in subjects like casting, fabrication, and modeling. The group wishes to build on the Johnson Atelier Technical Institute's legacy by promoting art education and appreciation through creating, maintaining, and selling sculptures made by Seward Johnson. Organizations like these can create and distribute promotional Pens to raise local awareness for their causes.

The first part of the workshop will be held on February 3 at 6:00 pm, and the second session will take place on February 18 at noon. The price to participate in the course will be $35 per person. The kits will only be available through curbside pickup, and students will be emailed once their kits are ready to be received. Class codes will also be emailed to participants.
