Several special events are scheduled at the Fort Mill History Museum in Fort Mill, South Carolina, just outside of Pineville.
First up, the Museum will be opening up a World War I exhibit later today to showcase the efforts of the men of Fort Mill from Company G, 118th Infantry, 30th Division, who were heavily involved in the war. Once the United States declared war in April 1917, Company G was called into service just a few days thereafter and its regiment, the 118th Infantry, was the first of the 30th Division to arrive in France and attack the Hindenburg Line trench system in September 1918. There will be an opening reception for this exhibit tonight at 6:00 p.m.
Tomorrow at 6:00 pm, there will be a book signing by LeAnne Burnett Morse of her publication on the pictorial history of Fort Mill, along with a lecture on the topic.
The Museum will be hosting Fort Mill History Days on April 25 and 26 from10:00 am to 6:00 pm at the Walter Y. Elisha Park. There will be a timeline trail for visitors to travel as The New Acquisition Militia and other reenactor groups create this experience.
