Special festival for dogs coming to Concord

The annual Dogs’ Day Out Festival will return to Concord this month for the 20th year.

To take place at Les Myers Park, the festival will have fun events and activities for the entire family. Family pets are mostly welcome and need to be up to date on their rabies vaccination. The Concord Youth Council will benefit from proceeds of the event. Such unique events and their fundraising efforts are often promoted with flyer printing.

The festival will also have a doggie fun zone for off-leash play, pet portrait character artists, raffle baskets, free puppuccinos for the dogs, music, food for purchase, and much more, The Concord Youth Council will be selling stickers and dog bandanas which can be customized with the name of the family pet. Among the contests for dogs will be a lookalike contest, a talent contest, and famous costume contest. A prize will be awarded to the top three dogs in each category.

The Parks and Recreation Department is seeking additional vendors such as those who sell pet clothes, toys, and homemade treats as well as shelter and animal rescue organizations.

Mount Pleasant Animal Hospital, Mount Pleasant Animal Rescue, Cabarrus Animal Hospital, the McDonald General Store, and Subaru Concord are sponsors of this year’s event.

The Dogs’ Day Out Festival will be held beginning at 11:30am on Saturday, October 21.
