New retail establishment to open in Concord

The first five tenants of a new shopping and food hall-style dining experience in Concord have been announced.

The five will be Lucky Factory Games, a board game café; Defined Coffee, a local retailer which roasts and sells coffee; Johnny Rogers BBQ, a favorite local barbecue eatery; The Market Bar, led by Steve Steinbacher of Cabarrus Brewing; and High Branch Brewing.

The Gibson Mill Market will be on McGill Avenue Northwest at the historic Cannon Mills Company Plant No. 6. It will encompass 17,000 square feet of retail space and is expected to have 10 to 12 vendors from the area, along with a full-service restaurant. There are three spots that are still available for occupancy. Flyer printing is often used to promote such projects and encourage more vendors to sign up for available spaces.

Business Development Director at Gibson Mill, Thomas Moore, expressed his excitement about the progress of this project. He added that he is looking forward to welcoming guests to the new Market this year.

Gibson Mill was established in 1899 by the Gibson Manufacturing Company. It was Plant No. 6 for the Cannon Mills Company. The Mill closed in 2003 and was purchased by people in the area who opened it for warehouse, office, and retail space.

Now being updated to offer a new ambiance filled with fun and energy, the revamped market is scheduled to open this fall.
