The community has watched and voted online as dancers have practiced for the upcoming Dancing For the Arts contest and soon the exciting finale will take place at the Davis Theater in Concord.
Sponsored by Positively Ballroom, Dancing For the Arts is based loosely on the television program Dancing with the Stars and is an outstanding arts event as well as a fundraiser supporting the Cabarrus Arts Council. Promotional support from a printing company can garner a lot of attention for an event such as this, which will in turn shine a light on the Arts Council as well as the city of Concord.
Couples comprised of one local celebrity and one professional dancer have been garnering votes, one dollar equals one vote, for weeks and following the finale all votes (dollars) will be tabulated and the grand prize awarded. Voting continues online at www.CabarrusArtsCouncil.org, votes can be cast by calling 704-920-2787 or by stopping by the Cabarrus Arts Council offices in Concord at 65 Union St. S.
The finale, The Dancing For the Arts Soiree, costs $150 for seating in the first three center rows; all other seats are $100. Tickets can be purchased at the same venues as are provided for voting. On the evening of November 14, what is described as a nosh and a sip will take place in a heated tent at 6 pm followed at 8 pm by the competition on the Davis stage. A Dancing Under the Stars after party for everyone starts at 10 pm.
