Concord to become home to specialized manufacturing plant

Hendrick Motorsports Manufacturing will be building a new advanced manufacturing plant in Concord.

The facility will span 155,000 square feet and will be on a property of 14 acres on Stowe Lane within the Concord city limits. The new facility will enable the company to expand its existing manufacturing operations in the areas of prototyping, assembly, and fabrication of metal structures. The project is also expected to support the company’s growth in specialized manufacturing.

The investment for this project is estimated at close to $15m in real and personal property. It is also expected that this project will maintain 75 existing jobs and create 50 new full-time jobs. Postings about such new jobs can be made with poster printing and other printing services. In addition, since 2019 Hendrick has invested in specialized manufacturing programs to enable employees to transition into the field of racing.

A three-year economic development grant approved by the Concord City Council is helping to make this project possible. The city will be able to collect a three-year net revenue of $31,212 from the grant.

John Sweet, a member of the Council, expressed his excitement about the continued investment in specialized manufacturing and its potential for the city. He said that this new plant is about technology and the future, and the many new developments it can bring for the industry.
