The Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) has bestowed national accreditation on the Police Department of the city of Concord.
This is the first such accreditation for the department, which demonstrates the high quality service the community receives from it. Announcements of such awards are often made known throughout the community with banner printing.
Gary Gacek, Police Chief of the Concord Police Department, expressed his pride in the accreditation of the department from CALEA. Gacek said that the rigorous and comprehensive multi-year process to apply was completed by his staff ahead of schedule, which indicates how best practices are carried out in the department and how it endeavors to maintain high standards.
He added that now that the Police Department has this CALEA accreditation and the Fire Department is rated as ISO 1, the community is in an excellent position to expect the highest quality public safety services.
The independent review process included meetings and interviews by the CALEA assessors with the public. In addition, Chief Gacek testified at a public hearing before commissioners, during which the findings for the police department were reviewed and discussed. The assessors found the department to be in complete compliance with all 180 standards.
The Board of Commissioners of CALEA then voted and approved the accreditation of the Concord department.
