A Master Plan for Dorton Park is being developed by the city of Concord.
The park is 24 acres in size and hosts numerous functions for the city, including the 5K Fun Run and annual Bunny Bash. Among the recreational amenities in the park are both a small and large tot playground area, a nine-hole golf course, three tennis courts, and three picnic shelters. The park was built in 2002 and is located next to the neighborhood of Alton Village.
The planned improvements to the park include restoring and stabilizing the Afton Run Branch stream that runs through the park, connecting trails, including a 1.1-mile walking trail in the park, to the future greenway, renovating existing facilities, and specifying new features or expanding existing ones.
In order to get feedback about the planned improvements and stay informed about the planning process, the city has created a website for residents to offer their thoughts and comments. Flyer printing can be used to make residents aware of such a website so that they can contribute to the process.
The city is also planning a session on this evening, April 8, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm where residents and stakeholders can participate in interactive and engaging activities to provide feedback on ways to enhance the park. The session will be held at the McGill Baptist Church.
