Concord names new head of police

A new police chief has been named in Concord.

Jimmy Hughes has been selected by City Manager Lloyd Payne to be the Chief of Police. Hughes has over 20 years of experience in law enforcement, and will now lead a team of over 200 officers and 30 professional staff.

Such news is often disseminated throughout a community with flyer printing and other printing services.

City Manager Payne expressed his thrill about welcoming Hughes as the next Chief of Police for the city, highlighting that Hughes has excellently served the community for over 25 years, including being the Interim Chief for the past several months. Payne added that Hughes has a great deal of knowledge as well that will benefit Team Concord and the city as a whole.

Hughes expressed his gratitude for the support and trust of the community, city management, and the City Council. He said it is an honor to be selected as the new Police Chief of Concord. Furthermore, Hughes added that the people who work at the Concord Police Department are compassionate and hardworking, and he is looking forward to maintaining the trust which the community has in the department and achieving safe places for businesses and families so that they can thrive.

Hughes holds a bachelor's degree from Pfeiffer University, a master’s degree from the University of Virginia, and is a graduate of the Police Executive Research Forum, as well as the FBI National Academy. His official new role has already come into effect as of January 29 2024.
