Concord mayor receives prominent award
The prestigious Smith Family Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Bill Dusch, mayor of Concord, at the Celebrate Cabarrus and Golden Helmet Awards for 2025.
This award recognizes an individual whose passion and dedication throughout their life have helped to make Cabarrus County a premier visitor destination. The award is presented by the Cabarrus County Convention and Visitors Bureau.
News of such awards is often spread throughout a community with flyer printing.
Mayor Dusch has lived in Concord all his life and has spent over 30 years serving the community as a volunteer, business owner, public servant, and mentor. Before he was elected mayor in 2017, he served on the Board of Adjustment, the Planning and Zoning Commission, and the Historic Preservation Commission of the city.
As mayor, he established Concord as a major destination for opportunity and innovation, leading it through historic development and growth. Billions of dollars have been invested in the city by companies such as Eli Lilly and Red Bull, which have created thousands of high paying jobs for residents.
The president and CEO of Cabarrus County Convention and Visitors Bureau, Donna Carpenter, said the legacy of Mayor Dusch is one of resilience, vision, and deep commitment to the city.
Mayor Dusch has served two terms as mayor and will be retiring. Steve Morris is the newly elected mayor and will assume his new position later this month.
