A new exhibit of “Clay: WoodFire NC” is currently opened at the Galleries of the Cabarrus Arts Council in Concord.
Featured at the exhibit is wood-fired pottery from famous artists of Seagrove and other work from several potters who are emerging on the Seagrove pottery scene and are an essential part of its pottery community. Among the artists in the exhibit are renowned Jugstown Pottery, Chad Brown, Hitomi and Takuro Shibata, and Daniel, Fred, and Kate Johnston, along with Bill Jones, Hamish Jackson, and Margaret Larson. There is a rich history of pottery in Seagrove and many generations have been part of its tight-knit community.
The exhibit runs through January 25 and is free and open to the public. Exhibits such as these often turn to poster printing to make themselves known throughout a community.
There are other activities planned at the Galleries during this exhibit. Sponsored by Carolina Portrait Designs, Cookies with Santa will feature sweet treats and family pictures with Santa Claus. This event is free and will be on Wednesday, December 4 from 3:00 to 6:00 pm.
Shopping, wine, and hot cider will be at the Galleries on Saturday, December 7 for holiday enjoyment. The following week there will be an Art Lab with fun art for children on Wednesday, December 11 at 10:00 am. There is a $5 charge for this event.
