Concord city workers cluck into action

The City of Concord worker-led campaign for United Way of Central Carolinas local member agencies will begin with a barbecue chicken lunch next week.

Lunch will be served at Fire Station #3 to benefit local member agencies of the United Way. For the reasonable price of $8, attendees can enjoy a fine meal of half a barbecue chicken accompanied by beans and coleslaw with a roll and beverage. For the same price without a drink, a to-go order will be available via a convenient drive-through. The fire station is located next to Concord First Assembly on Warren C. Coleman Boulevard N.

Last year’s attendees were, according to the city’s website, pleasantly surprised by the size and taste of the chicken they were served. Those who wish to order a large quantity of dinners or who might be late getting to the fire house should consider calling 704-920-5007 to pre-order.

Concord city workers host many events during the year to benefit the United Way. Last year, the City of Concord raised over $29,000 of the half million generated in Cabarrus County through its coworker-led campaign. A flyer printing service can provide an inexpensive way to spread the word about the barbecue chicken dinner, with perhaps a banner at the location to attract attention.

Held on October 17, the barbecue chicken lunch will take place between 11:00 am and 3:00 pm.
