Airline in Concord to expand operations

Avelo Airlines will be expanding at Concord Padgett Regional Airport while also consolidating its operations around five bases.

Avelo is planning to use its strong cash position to begin its long-term strategic goals with an emphasis on key markets that include Concord. It will add another aircraft at Concord for a total of three aircraft. Each is a Boeing Next-Generation 737-800s that seats 189 people. This is an upgrade from its previous 737-700s models that accommodated 149 people.

Beginning next month, Avelo will increase the frequency of flights to Albany, New York. Its service from Concord to San Juan, Puerto Rico; New York, Long Island, and Rochester, New York; New Haven, Connecticut; and Orlando, Florida will continue.

There are more than 75 crew members employed by Avelo. It began its service in May 2024 at Concord Padgett Regional Airport and has carried more than 230,000 customers on over 2,000 flights.

Avelo is restructuring its airline and consolidating its operations at four bases it currently uses which include Central Florida/Lakeland; Philadelphia/Delaware Valley; New Haen, Connecticut, and Concord. This streamlining effort will close bases in Wilmington and Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina and mesa, Arizona. The airline is planning to open a new based later this year in Dallas/McKinney, Texas.
