The Moon Joggers will organize a virtual race in June that people in St. Louis can join to support a nonprofit organization.
Global Running Day is an annual activity that encourages the public to get active, regardless of running skill or intensity. The virtual format of the race allows participants to complete the event anywhere, such as indoors on a treadmill or outdoors on local roads. Those who complete a 5K or 10K will be sent a medal through the mail.
The charity supported by the event will be Soles4Souls, a nonprofit group that provides shoes and clothing to people in crisis situations. The group also gives new athletic shoes to children who experience homelessness. The organization has programs that empower women and help people start small businesses.
The Moon Joggers is an organization of walkers, runners, and joggers that was created by Angie Webb. The group hosts monthly virtual races and supports many charitable organizations. The Moon Joggers have also visited Guatemala to distribute shoes alongside Soles4Souls.
The virtual race will be held from Saturday, June 1 to Friday, June 14. The cost to participate in the racing event is $18 per person. Runners can choose between running a mile, 5K, 10K, 13.1K, or 26.2K race. Fundraisers like this may be promoted to more consumers with ads made using poster printing services.
