St. Louis bookstore to hold workshop

The Novel Neighbor in St. Louis will be organizing an activity in June to teach kids how to make books.

The Bookmaking Summer Camp is a program children can join to learn the necessary steps for making their own books. The course is taught by Moira Smith and will be held at the Novel Neighbor’s event space. Those who take the workshop will be taught how to decorate book covers and bind pages together. The camp may also provide participants with writing advice for making their own stories inside their newly crafted books.

The Novel Neighbor is a community space and bookstore located in the Webster Groves neighborhood. The facility was founded by Holland Saltsman in 2014. Several events are held at the building, such as visits from authors, cocktail classes, and book-themed birthday parties. Individuals and companies may also rent out the space for activities like business meetings, rehearsal dinners, or photoshoots. Amenities offered at The Novel Neighbor include free parking and a sound system.

The Bookmaking Summer Camp will be held from Monday, June 6 to Friday, June 10. Children aged 6-12 are the intended audience for the program. The cost of the bookmaking course is $250 per student. Lunch will not be included at the summer camp. Organizations that organize workshops for kids like this one may use flyer printing to advertise the experience to more families.
