Selfie Room opens in St. Louis

St. Louis is now home to a selfie museum known as the Selfie Room. The new business is not a pop-up store, unlike similar efforts.

The Selfie Room is the brainchild of sisters-in-law Christa and Erika Klotz, who opened the business early in the month. The space comprises 3,300 square feet and is designed specifically for people to take photos by providing professional lighting, as well as twelve exhibits with which patrons can interact to create the perfect photo.

Customers will pay $30 each to enter the Selfie Room, which is on Washington Avenue, and for that amount they will be allowed to stay for an unlimited time, taking as many photos as they like. New businesses like this can distribute promotional products to help build brand recognition.

The young women are aware of similar concepts that have opened as pop-ups, including the Selfie Museum and the Museum of Ice Cream, but have decided their business will be permanent. Erika Klotz says they hope to make the room a St. Louis staple.

The sisters-in-law are experienced businesswomen—Christa owns a paint-and-sip studio in Kansas City, where Erika has a tech start-up—and were able to devise a business plan for the Selfie Room during an afternoon football game. They knew the selfie room concept has been spreading in other communities and decided to start one in St. Louis.
