‘Evil Dead—the Musical’ which has been described by the New York Times as “the next 'Rocky Horror' Show,” is coming to St. Louis, according to an article in Broadway World.
The show, which is a rock musical, is based on the hit movie series of the same name. The stage production originated in Toronto, Canada in 2003 and has played around the world since then, including an off-Broadway run in 2006.
The outrageous plot involves the plight of five college buddies who spend the weekend in an archetypical locale for horror of all kinds—a long-deserted cabin in the middle of the woods. Mayhem ensues, since the five have unleashed a demonic force that has turned them into ‘Candarian’ demons.
The first three rows of the theater are designated as the ‘Splatter Zone’, indicating the level of blood and gore that drenches the audience during violent scenes. People sitting here find themselves covered in “blood” during “real-life” scenes. Irreverent jokes by demons, along with tunes like ‘All the Men in My Life Keep Getting Killed by Demons’, won the show the Dora Audience Choice Award in Toronto in 2007.
The show plays in the Grandel Theatre in St. Louis for a limited run of October 10 to 22. Tickets are on sale now. Theater managers can add to the fun by working with a poster printing company to create wacky Posters advertising productions like this.Get a Free Quote for Posters
