Holiday brass band to appear in St. Louis
A popular local brass band will bring the holidays to St. Louis in style.
The Funky Butt Brass Band (FBBB) is presenting their 12th Annual Holiday Brasstravaganza at The Pageant, bringing in the holidays. The FBBB is a local outfit, having first got together in 2007 in St. Louis. The six founding musicians revere the tradition of the New Orleans brass band, taking classic brass music from New Orleans and putting their own spin on it. This has led to critics comparing the FBBB to artists like the Dirty Dozen Brass Band. However, they also mix in genres such as Chicago blues, Southern rock, and R&B.
The FBBB has played at such important festivals as the Big Muddy Blues Festival, and the Taste of St. Louis. They have also been onstage with legends such as the Royal Southern Brotherhood, the New Orleans Suspects, and Dr. John himself.
Thus far, the group has released four records, including “You Can Trust the Funky Butt Brass Band” in 2011, and the most recent, “Onward,” in 2020. They have also made two holiday albums, an EP called “Shiny Christmas Balls” and more recently, “A Funky Butt Family Christmas.”
A review noted:
Taking place on December 12 at 8:00 pm and December 13 at 6:00 pm, poster printing can provide colorful advertising for events like this.

“Ideal mix of traditional Christmas music with a jazzy/funky edge to it. I like the way they added singers, guitar players, and sax players as the night went on until the stage was full of great musicians.”
