Barbecuing pair to cook up a reopening

St. Louis barbecue fans will be pleased to see the return of a popular joint to the city.

Father and daughter Larry and Angie Lampert have served barbecue to customers all over the city. At various times in the last few years, they have operated in Rock Hill, Webster Groves, and Maryland Heights.

Now, the Lamperts are set to open again, this time in a shack in a Walgreen's parking lot. The drug store is located at McCausland and Manchester, and the Lamperts' operation is taking over from BJ's BBQ. They plan to make some small upgrades, and will open later this week.

The former operators left last year, leaving BJ's empty. The Lamperts took over and ran the operation for a few months last fall to see if it was viable, and how difficult it would be to run. They shut down in November.

Now, they are ready to reopen, and even though it's still a walk-up, they have added a covered patio to the side and a full deck out front. They can seat about 40 diners and plan to serve ribs, pulled pork, polish sausage, chicken, and simple sides like beans, potato salad, and coleslaw.

Lampert's Q-Shack opens this Thursday, February 5, and will be available three days a week, from Thursdays through Saturdays. When Daylight Savings Time starts, they plan to increase operations to Mondays through Saturdays.

The Lamperts could work with a banner printing company to create an item to hang on opening day.
