The Farms approved by council

Following a year of research, city council members and the developer finalized where The Farms at Maryland Park will go on October 1.

The Farms at Maryland Park is going to be the biggest construction project in the city for the past 10 years. It is also one of the city's largest since its founding. Aside from offices and commercial space totaling 150,000 square feet of the 219 acres total, the development is set to have around 790 residential units, of which 320 will be for apartment-like units.

There will also be 390 separate houses and 79 row homes. Houses are set to sell between $100,000 and $600,000 according to a representative of McBride & Son Homes, the developer for The Farms at Maryland Park.

Council members decided it should go between the Maryland Heights Expressway and the Missouri River, where Arrowhead Airport used to be. Construction will start next year and should be finished in 2020. Nearby Chesterfield must consider if it will regulate River Valley Drive due to the construction, and officials of the city plan to decide on this closer to the end of the year.

Residents moving into the new development will need to sign leases, deeds, and other contracts. Owners of the property will need several business documents printed to get people moved in as soon as possible.
