Puppeteers to perform at Maryland Heights library

Families in Maryland Heights can attend a child-friendly puppet show at the Thornhill Library in July.

The Reuben the Jealous Lion Puppet Show is a family-friendly program where attendees can enjoy a live performance by Papa and Jackie Wright. The story is about Reuben and his best friend Elephant, who is having a birthday party. When Elephant becomes the center of attention, Reuben grows jealous and tries to ruin the party. The musical adventure teaches Reuben that he doesn’t need to be jealous of his friend. The event is suitable for those who are aged three and older.

Jackie and Glen Wright Jr. are two experienced performers who make kid-friendly shows that teach audiences important life lessons. The duo has created many puppet shows, such as The Lion and the Mouse, The Three Pigs of Piggy Ville, and The Ant and the Grasshopper. Jackie is a retired special education instructor who is a member of the Puppet Guild of Greater St. Louis, while Glen taught at the St. Louis Conservatory and Schools for the Arts. He is also part of the Puppeteers of America.

The Reuben the Jealous Lion Puppet Show will be on Tuesday, July 22, beginning at 2:00 pm. The program is part of the STL Summer Adventure and will be free for families to watch, with no need to register. Libraries that host kid-friendly experiences like this may use poster printing to advertise their performances.
