MiTek releases code reports

An Evaluation Code Report has come out for Chesterfield company MiTek's new products. MiTek serves the St. Louis area such as Maryland Heights.

The ECR was for the Cold Formed Steel Moment and Picture Frames from the Hardy Frame series. ECRs allow product developers to announce the use of substitute materials for building that regular codes do not identify but most building departments find acceptable.

Reports for the Moment Frame, which has been deemed an acceptable alternative material, is available on the Hardy Frame website. Developers can install the frames using the specific instructions for the product.

According the Jesse Karns, a representative for Hardy Frame, the reports serve as proof from a third party that the frame is up to code and will increase how much Cold Formed Steel products are used through information on building code and specifications needed.

Hardy Frame CFS Moment Frames are the first of their kind. They were inspired by the company's HFX Panels. They can support a large load in narrow walls, which gives designers more liberties such as glass windows and walls that can be rearranged, as well as larger structural openings. The Picture Frame model is the Moment Frames has a header beam bottom sill beam. It is good at compression load distribution in larger areas, making it ideal for multilevel structures using lightweight wood and cold-formed steel frames.

Brochure printing services can help explain the building code requirements and the benefits of cold-formed steel frames.
