Pharmaceutical company CVS Health has added walk-in facilities to five of its centers in the St. Louis area, and Maryland Heights residents have one within five miles of their home.
Creve Coeur is one of the quintet of clinics to have been given ‘MinuteClinic’ status during late August and early September, and it joins O’Fallon, Ellisville, Mehlville, and St. Peters in adopting the option to give increased flexibility and immediate attention to St. Louis folk in need of medical care. In total, 11 nurses have been taken on to keep these centers manned.
MinuteClinics can provide prescriptions for common ear, nose, and throat ailments, and are also able to provide treatment for basic sprains and skin injuries, among other non-emergency conditions.
This brings the total number of MinuteClinics in Missouri up to 20, and there are more than 900 throughout the U.S. They are set up with the intention of limiting the strain on emergency rooms by taking some of the more straightforward, targeted medical care cases away from them.
A spokesman for CVS, Brent Burkhardt, has confirmed that St. Louis is likely to see more of these walk-in clinics over the next 12 months. With new medical options coming to the city, and an increase in job opportunities likely as a result, local poster printing companies are likely to find themselves tasked with generating awareness in and around the area.
