Local suburb recognized once again for financial reporting

Creve Coeur, a suburb of St. Louis next to Maryland Heights, has a history of financial reporting success and this year marks the 23rd consecutive time that it has been giving the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting (CAFR).

It also has won the award for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting (PAFR) for 11 years in a row.

The nonprofit Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) of the United States and Canada gives the CAFR and the PAFR to the best candidates in financial reporting and accounting in a government setting. They are the GFOA's top awards.
Judges analyze the previous year's financial reports of the city to decide if they meet the standards of a CAFR. The reports must be thorough, clear, and easy to read, and the judges need to be sure that all aspects of the financial reports are disclosed. With headquarters in the nation's capital and Chicago, the GFOA serves more than 17,000 professionals in financial government matters.

According to Creve Coeur's city administrator Mark Perkins, the awards represent the city's dedication to good financial reporting and handling the city's funds with care. He praised the Department of Finance and its director, Dan Smith, for their hard work.

Having a Print company make a colorful poster for these achievements and hang it in the office may motivate employees in the financial department.
