Local company given STEM accolade

St. Charles County Workforce Development Board honored CEO Renee Chronister and her IT business, Parameter Security, during the recent 2016 STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) Week.

Renee and her husband Dave created Parameter Security, which performs IT training and ethical hacking for private companies and government offices.

The company was formed in 2006 and left the incubation of the Economic Development Center of St. Charles County six years later. With the business' permission, Parameter Security hacks into its clients’ IT systems to show where holes are in their security, and its Hacker University provides training in IT security. Finally, it performs computer forensics to help law enforcement with investigations. With eight employees and two dogs that serve as mascots, Parameter Security is located in historic St. Charles near the river and Maryland Heights.

According to St Charles County Workforce Development Board Chair and First State Bank of St. Charles president Luanne Cundiff, the county is increasing its need for IT employees. She expressed gratitude in recognizing the international IT security firm as a success and an example of entrepreneurs in the STEM field.

STEM Week was created to encourage more people to get into the field and occurs on the first week of March.
