‘Defending the Caveman’ will once again be onstage in Maryland Heights next month.
This continues the theme of the Playhouse at Westport Plaza bringing Broadway and off-Broadway shows to the St. Louis metropolitan area that are not performed at other venues.
Defending the Caveman stars Cody Lyman, a comedian, and nobody else, making it the longest running solo play in Broadway history. Rob Becker wrote the play in three years while learning about the subjects of man and his mind. In 1991, the show premiered in San Francisco. It hit Broadway in 1995 and ran for over two years.
The play has traveled to 45 countries in 18 languages. It deals with issues such as fragile masculinity and feminism. Honoring the contrast between genders and the strengths and weaknesses of each, it is mostly about relationships.
Many family and marriage counselors praise it for its portrayal of the gaps between males and females, with The New York Times, The Boston Globe, and The Chicago Sun-Times among the publications to have praised it.
The Broadway show will be at the Playhouse at Westport Plaza at 635 Westport Plaza from October 10-29. Tickets are $60 and available online, by phone, or at the box office 30 minutes before show time.
Venues like the Playhouse need ways to advertise their shows. A poster printing company could create original work for their run.
