Food writer to visit library in Mound

The Westonka Library in Mound will invite an experienced food author to its Author Talk series in October.

Those interested in learning about food-based traditions can attend an Author Talk led by Patrice Johnson, a writer who shows how food impacts the lives of Minnesotans. Her presentation will focus on her published book Land of 10,000 Plates: Stories and Recipes From Minnesota. The book discusses several state-specific food terms and practices, such as pizza farms, hot dish, and meat raffles. People will get to ask Johnson questions after her lecture.

Patrice Johnson is an experienced food writer who has also written books like Jul: Swedish American Holiday Traditions, in which she uses her personal cultural experiences and research to discuss Swedish cuisine. Johnson is also a teacher who talks about Nordic food and gives cooking demonstrations to students. She has contributed recipes and articles to several publications and is also the author behind the Gaylord Hub's Called to the Table food column.

The presentation on Johnson's book will be held on Saturday, October 26th from 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm. People do not need to pay to visit Johnson's lecture and aren't required to reserve their spots at the library. Copies of her book will be available to purchase at the event. Authors who take part in similar library programs can use business card printing to connect with their audience.
