The Housing and Community Services Division in Eden Prairie will be giving its residents assistance with applying for different types of housing loans that come with zero interest rates, and specifications for deferring or forgiving them.
The program has a special procedure for first-time homebuyers. People who are purchasing their first homes in Eden Prairie will be able to apply for a loan worth up to $10,000. They will be deferred and have zero interest rates. When the funds are acquired, they can be used to put down a part of the down payment, clear the closing costs, and reduce the mortgage principal. Official Letterheads will no doubt feature on the application Forms.
A program for emergency repairs is now available to senior citizens. Residents of Eden Prairie who are 60 years or older and live in a home that they own, and one in need of repairs, can apply for forgivable loans worth up to $5,000. Emergency repair funds can be used to fix furnaces, water heaters, and malfunctioning air conditioners. The funds can also be used to install upgrades for accessibility such as handrails and grab bars.
The third tier of the loan applications is for homes that require rehabilitation. These loans are available to low-income and moderate-income households that need to repair or maintain their Eden Prairie homes. The funds can be directed towards installing new windows, roofs, plumbing, electrical installations, and heating.
