Shutterfly has announced plans to move more than 100 marketing positions from its headquarters in California to Eden Prairie.
The company is moving its merchandising and marketing efforts from Redwood City in California to order to make its marketing efforts more effective. The workers in California will be given the opportunity to move to Eden Prairie, although company directors expect few will do so. Most of the jobs in Eden Prairie are likely to be taken by people already living in Minnesota. The company specializes in taking photos of school children and church members. Print shops are often visited to have photographs printed and framed.
Lifetouch is a Shutterfly subsidiary in Eden Prairie where the jobs will be moved to. More than 700 people already work there. Jim Hilt, Shutterfly’s president, said:
“We are super excited. Paired with Shutterfly, we believe there is a huge amount of growth for both of these businesses to move forward together.”
Greg Hintz is a was a veteran at Shutterfly who was appointed as the head of Lifetouch. He will also be moving to the Eden Prairie office which is located near Viking Drive. The new office will not require any additional construction however some renovations have been ordered.
The company did not receive any assistance from the city or the state when planning the move to Eden Prairie because officials do not believe that the addition of new Lifetouch employees will have a major economic impact on the area.
