What's Happening in Eden Prairie, MN…

A project to manage Eden Prairie’s pavements has kicked off and it is expected to be completed in the middle of August.

The goal of the project is to extend the life of Eden Prairie’s pavements. The primary components of the work include fixing the roadway, milling the existing pavement’s top layer, and laying down new asphalt. Most of the streets that are affected are located in the southeast and the northwest of the city.

The first phase started on 23rd June and was completed on 25th June. A sealant known as Reclamite was sprayed over the road and a layer of limestone was laid down right after, then the excess limestone was blown away about three days later. Poster printing is often used to inform people about ongoing works like this.

The second part of the project is more intense and it will start on 20th July, running all the way till 21st August. In this phase, a chip seal will be put down. The procedure for putting the chip seal involves spraying asphalt oil on the road’s surface and then rolling rock chips into it.

A fog seal comes next. Asphalt emulsion is spread over the rock chips in the chip seal to keep the chips form moving. Parking and driving on the streets will be restricted while the fog seal is placed.
