Eden Prairie residents to celebrate Tree City status

Eden Prairie is planning an Arbor Day Walk and Green Fair to commemorate its designation as a Tree City USA community. The event will include children’s activities and the sale of environmentally friendly goods.

The Tree City USA program provides support and guidance to maintain and expand public trees in urban communities. Eden Prairie has been a Tree City USA community for over 36 years. The city has adopted steps for sustainable living, including responsible waste management, reducing energy and water usage and increasing tree cover. The community regularly organizes recycling events, workshops to increase awareness about the environment and park clean-up days.

The city had organized an Arbor Day tree sale in partnership with Tree Trust. The trees made available with this program were sold out faster than expected this year, and ranged from four to eight feet. Trees purchased during the Arbor Day sale will be available for pickup at the Arbor Day Walk and Green Fair.

Residents in the community are encouraged to visit the event to show their commitment and involvement in the city’s environmental efforts. Vendors at the event can benefit from brochure printing and distribution at the venue to promote their business.

The event will be held on May 1 from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. The venue is Round Lake Park at 16691 Valley View Road.
