Eden Prairie area workshop to offer winter maintenance training

MPCA Smart Salting for Parking Lots & Sidewalks Certification Training will take place in Chanhassen near Eden Prairie next month.

The training will be hosted by several entities including the MPCA Chloride Reduction Program, the Nine Mile Creek Watershed District, and the Riley Purgatory Bluff Creek Watershed District. The workshop is intended to share more efficient winter maintenance best practices (BMPs) and is designed for those who work in the winter maintenance field, those who hire or supervise winter maintenance staff, private contractors, and anyone who is interested in promoting more efficient winter maintenance practices.

The workshop will take a comprehensive look at how to manage ice and snow on sidewalks and parking lots. Attendees will learn about the environmental impacts of chloride use, equipment calibration, de-icing and anti-icing, BMPs for storing materials, application rates, regulatory issues and managing liability, and much more. A certification test will be offered at the end of class.

Certification training like this may rely on printed teaching Brochures to relay information to students. Such materials can be affordably printed at most local Print shops specializing in brochure printing services.

The winter maintenance class is scheduled for November 1 from 8:00am to 1:30pm. It will take place at Riley Purgatory Bluff Creek Watershed District, located at 18681 Lake Drive East Chanhassen, just minutes from Eden Prairie.
