Eden Prairie’s city council has dedicated its Community Center’s aquatics facility to a former mayor and renamed the facility in her honor.
The facility was officially renamed as the Nancy Tyra-Lukens Aquatics Center on June 18. The former mayor was an advocate for good health and wellness, and was one of the people who worked the hardest to open up the Aquatics Center. The fitness center now has a play center, a pool, and three ice rinks dedicated to family fun. People can also rent out meeting rooms for private gatherings, such as birthday parties and business meetings.
Nancy Tyra-Lukens worked on the Eden Prairie City Council for more than two decades, and her Business Cards read 'Mayor' for 13 years during that spell. Residents can see the results of her hard work and her dedication towards serving the community in many installations, such as parks and recreation facilities that will serve the community for generations.
The Eden Prairie Community Center is open from 5:30 am to 10:00 pm every day except for Labor Day, Independence Day and Memorial Day. A daily use fee of $10 applies, although there are other fees for certain programs and facilities.
