Ham Lake to hold childrens pottery course

Ham Lake residents can bring their children to a pottery class in April at the North Central Library.

Clay Bird and Nest is an art program presented by the Rum River Art Center, where kids can make their favorite birds out of clay. Those taking part in the art activity program can also build a nest for their birds from clay. The project will teach children how to work with clay and add texture to their creations. Students can paint their finished pieces with a colored underglaze after they have been fired at the art center. The lesson has been funded by the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.

The Rum River Art Center is an organization that offers various art classes to those of all ages. The date ranges of its lessons range from single-day art courses to multiple-week programs. Larry Weinberg and Susan Yee are the founders of the organization, and Angie Renee is the center’s creative director. The group offers art classes for home-schooled children, seniors, and families. People may support the art center by volunteering, donating money, and leaving the organization a good review online.

The clay bird project will be held on Saturday, April 22nd from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm. Those interested in registering their kids for the in-person activity must wait until Wednesday, March 1st. Libraries that offer artistic experiences like this may use printing services to make Signs that promote their art projects to patrons.
